How to get and use a Library Card

A library card is free

To get a library card to check out books and use our online resources, we need:

·       Proof of residence (Texas ID or driver’s license) with an address within Zapata County

·       A bill (electricity, water, internet, insurance) that lists the same address as the ID or driver’s license

You can check out a maximum of 5 books (10 for AR) and you have 2 weeks to return them—if you need more time, call us and we will renew the books for you. To return books outside of regular hours, there is a book drop located to the left of the front doors of the library.

Our library also participates in the TexShare Card Program. Patrons outside of Zapata County with a TexShare Card may obtain a library card and borrowing privileges with a signed agreement to abide our policies.

Patrons of Zapata County interested in obtaining a TexShare Card must be in good standing (i.e. no overdue books) and sign an agreement to abide by the policies of other TexShare Card participating libraries.
